Petoskey Stone

Petoskey StoneThe Petoskey Stone is a type of fossilized colony coral which exhibits an "eye" when polished. This coral lived about 350 million years ago during the Devonian Age in a sea which covered the state of Michigan. Today the fossil remains are found in and around Petoskey, Michigan USA. The color is a grayish-brown with both light and dark variations and its     " eye" is usually a darker brown. The stones' scientific name is  "Hexagonaria", taken from the hexagon shapes of the cell chambers which are almost always white in color. In 1965 the Petoskey Stone was adopted as the official state stone of Michigan.

The Petoskey Stone is said to discourage infections and infectious disease, eliminate the possibility of miscievous spirits channeling incorrect information, and can bring promotion and actualization to one's creative endeavors.

This stone stimulates the third-eye and the intutive livels of the inner self. It helps one toward physic awareness and enhances the awareness of the emotions. It provides for the protection of the are of, and around, the head and energizes both the crown chakra and the third-eye.
